Coming soon... a fundraising video

We are very fortunate at Gaia Forest to be located right in the middle of the footprint of the recently-declared Great Koala National Park. Our locality at Fernbrook is also known for a healthy population of an upland form of Koala. Listed as an endangered species in NSW, without urgent, systemic intervention, wild populations of Koala in NSW could face extinction before 2050. Late last year when I was walking one of our many trails through the forest here, I stumbled upon this mum Koala with her Joey. Normally they would be hard to spot, high in a blue gum, but these two were sitting low in a prickly ash, a rainforest species not known as a food plant for Koalas. This fact allowed me to fetch a ladder and get quite close, enough to record this video. This footage also made its way into our fundraising video, which we are getting very close to launching - watch this space!
